bleeding-i guess that in all this work you had to mess with it? or it just had air? i recently (a year ago) had the bleeder screw come loose, and when i bled it back up, got everything except reverse-just would not go in! thought the trannie was toast, but re-bled the clutch (pressure through brake fluid tank), and all is good with the world. however, i think there is a brake band that acts in the trannie for reverse to stop the shafts, but have no real knowledge. but start with checking if it will go in with engine off-try a few times with an engine start in between, or vehicle rolling slowly backwards with engine off. by the way, when i had this problem, the peddle felt perfect! good luck.
