And it doesn't matter if you start in with starter or with another car. Only use 3rd gear and nice clutch-work in order no to rev it to 5K rpm if you decide to tow-start it. Otherwise you can blow up your oil filter or smth else in oil or timing system.
As for what can be the problem - I'd suggest that hall-sensor looks to be #1 suspect if it started ok yesterday or some days before. Otherwise check Saana's post below (see the link).
