short battery life

I am trying to figure out why the batteries I buy are not lasting any more than 2 seasons in my 1990 900T. I am facing yet again, a slow cranking car this winter. I have been buying the battery size rated for the vehicle at Advance Auto using their "economy" type battery, which supposed to be a 48 month battery, but have barely gotten 18 months out of them. Last fall, I bought a "silver" battery that's supposed to be a 60 month battery, and yet again, I am experiencing slow cranking when the weather turned cold.
I was thinking that the battery was getting cooked by the turbo, so that "silver" battery I bought, I purchased a narrower size which has a larger air gap between the turbo and the battery. This battery also has a higher CCA rating that the older ones I was using too.
Am I just getting crappy batteries, or is this an issue where the car isn't charging the battery fully? I'm getting 12.6 volts off the battery when it's sitting with the engine off overnight, so that tells me the battery is at or near a full charge. Could the alternator be over-charging? I'm getting 14.1 volts at idle which looks OK. My dashboard voltmeter, which is connected to the ignition switch reads about 13.5 while under way. I'm getting tired of having to replace batteries all the time! Anybody else experienced the same issue? My work van had the factory original battery in it for 7 years! I'd love to get that kind of battery life in my SAAB!
