in getting the car to boost.
with normal ngk plugs they were only able to keep the car boosting pure for about a month and a half, after which the car started to drop out of its full boost and could only deliver a medeocer boosting performance.
once the plugs were taken out and cleaned (wire brushed) they once again could deliver a pure boost for only a week longer, then again fall off its top performance.
noticing this i thought to myself what would the car do if i kept the plugs in for 4 to 6 months with out cleaning them or changing them. (keep in mind this car is my daily driver which in a week i can run up anywhere from 200 to 1100 miles)
at the end of 5 months the car was unable to boost at all. at 3 to 4 months it was stuck in base boost, at five the car preformed like a vw bug pulling a car. no boost at all could be achieved.
once the turbo started (soon as the boost tac hit the white line) the knock sensor was tripped and stopped the motor from boosting at all.
it was as if i was driving a n/a (not even base boost, there was nothing)

after the exchanging the plugs (normal ngk) the car was back to its normal performance, boosting deep into red.
but once again this only lasted for about a month of noninterrupted pure boost every-time. after which time the cycle would start all over again.

boosting with the iridium`s well.. i installed them seven months ago
in which time i ran the motor way, way rich, then cut back fuel and leaned it out to get the best gas mileage i could (hwy driving) then finally steeled with the oem injectors, through out all the variations of envirements i tossed at the plugs they preformed flawlessly.
im not saying everyone should run out and equip the iridium's, the plugs did right by me, they preformed so good in my eyes ill give them props.

one thing i found out about them, if the gap in the plug opens or wares to 30" or above they will not fire/or misfire. in a saab 900 the gap range needs to be 23-29 at the moment im gaped at 25-26 and had great results.
im not looking for the most mileage i can get out of a plug, im looking for what can keep my car boosting pure for the longest.
so i went searching for the a plug, when iridium's first hit the shelves i installed them, after reading about the purpose of the plug.
i had heard people have bad experience with the plugs and some that had great results.
there is just one thing to know about the iridium.
with the plug in hand before the gap is even checked notice the needle stalk at the end of the plug (the end that creates the spark)
this little needle has the structural integrity of being made out of hardened clay and can snap or be smashed this is the iridium that was just destroyed and with it destroyed the plug gap will now be at 50-70" if one gaps this plug back down to 26 the plug will still work (as in get the car running) but it will misfire badly
in trying to get the plug to give up 110,000 miles under boosting conditions,..... what a nice thought that would be, i wouldn't need to change plugs for 3 years. nice
