My neighbor was backing out of his driveway and hit my SPG while I was driving down our street. He says he never saw me due to a parked car blocking his view. Fortunately my house is only a half a block away & I was driving less than 10 mph (slowly accelerating) and the impact was very little, my son & I were fine. The Saab was the only casualty in the family.

Damage to the Saab was minor; the front passenger quarter panel (fender behind front wheel) with the sheet metal bowed in, slightly dented & hard to see, until close, but there. The door has scratches in the paint and the "SPG" panels that are between the wheels, including the door, all have deep gouges in them with a fair amout of paint taken off. The door SPG panel no longer sits flush either. It doesn't look horrible, but I have spent a lot of time and money resoring her. I "restored" the original paint myself, and wax her with 2 coats every season.

I think he hoped I would not file a claim, but in the end I did. I actually don't know him well, but I feel bad about it. It is of course complicated (not his car, etc). I want my panels fixed though, and the dent removed (if possible w/o bondo). I have restored the bumper and bumper ends myself in the past (thankfully untouched by today's incident), but frankly I don't have the time now, and I won't for a while (work, kids, etc). He never offered to pay for it out of pocket, and I thought it might be best to go through proper channels for my protection & his.

Thanks for letting me get this off of my chest.
