Got it all done thanks...
The .1a trigger is enough and works perfectly...it didn't cross my mind at the time that the antenna would be down when not playing the radio, even with the unit on. I'm too accustomed to hearing the antenna go up as soon as I turn it on, and I had a USB stick plugged into it while testing...DOH!

As I planned to use a memory stick, my primary requirement was a USB jack in front. SONY was one of the few manufacturers which have the jack in front. I did not want an extension cable dangling from somewhere, just to be able to plug in a memory stick.
Discovered during setup you can change the backlit buttons from red to green :) Of course the LED display is still blue.
Sounds great with the stock speakers, significantly better than the Stock Clarion.
