engine hiccup - suggestions please Posted by ryan [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Tried a post on this awhile back with no takers; let me try again. :)
The engine in my 5-speed '88 900 Turbo randomely likes to do a few annoying things. The worst is that it will cut out for a split second every once and awhile. This seems to usually happen under light throttle. Sometimes I will be pulling away from a stop light and the engine seems to just cut out for a very short time (kind of throwing you into the steering wheel) and then goes again. Other times it does this while cruising on side streets (again with a light throttle). It just feels like the engine cuts for a millisecond. The other odd issue is that once and awhile the engine will just stall out when the car comes to a stop.
There were some misfiring issues before that were cured with a new fuel pump. Besides a new fuel pump, the car has a new fuel filter. The spark plug cables have about 50k on them and are Magnecor. Plugs are new, cap & roter are relatively new. Also, the AMM is a new unit. The vacuum lines look good. I was planing to change the air filter, clean the battery leads, and put in a few more new vacuum lines. Besides that, I think we are a bit at a loss of what to check since the problem is so intermittent. Some on the chat have suggested the hall sensor, maybe? Overall the car has a little over 175k.
thanks for any help!
