Temporary "Fix" For Heater Core/Control Leak

I am picking up a '91 SAAB 900 base 2-door to give my '88 convertible some rest and restoration over the winter. I have been told there is a puddle of coolant on the driver's side under the pedals. I've read enough posts on SAABNET to figure out what to check out when I get the car home.
For now, I want to just "fix" the leak problem by routing the coolant flow
away from the heater area. I just want to be able to successfully drive the car home (40 miles) without making more of a mess or overheating.
I recall doing something like this years ago using plumbing supplies (two elbows and short section of pipe). At the time I figured the coolant system's function wouldn't be compromised if I simply removed the heater from the loop.
Does anyone know what the inside diamter (ID) of the hoses are that
connect the coolant system to the heater. I sorts need this to get the plumbing supplies ready. For no good reason, I threw out my "fix" some years ago in an effort to streamline my personal "junk yard."
Thanks in advance for your help.
Frank
