turbo is capable of producing boost, nothing else. the apc will open wastegate to dump boost whenever knock is sensed. what you need to do first is confirm you have an operating apc. with the vac lines reconnected, disconnect solenoid plug, take for a drive. the boost needle should sit somewhere around 1/3 yellow, depending on guage. what you are actually looking for is something different than what you are used to-ie, a little less boost. that will confirm that your apc is basically functioning, and allowing more than base, but just not as much as you would like!if that is the case, then you unfortunately have a less than 'perfect' situation (at least as far as the apc see's it).

there is knock coming a little earlier than there should be with good gas. as others have said-look for vac leaks, good plugs, leads, cap, rotor (has to be bosch)-heck there are a million things... carboned up top end...

not sure how much effect the fuel filter can have-but cheap item, good to get a new one in there anyway.

do not put that restriction in the apc solenoid-it's a false fix

AUSTIN::::
i mentioned timing before-this is critical for good boosting. if you have a non-modified vac capsule, you should have 16btdc at idle, vac line disconnected and plugged, then, apply 10psi or so to the capsule and you should see the timing retard down to 11btdc or so. this is absolutely vital. sorry, more important than that-THIS IS ABSOLUTELY VITAL!

i would avoid taking it away from stock until you have set/checked timing function, set/checked base boost, and swapped out a couple of sets of plugs, seafoamed the inlet...
you should see the yellow/red border with premiun gas easily (as others have also mentioned, the guage is ambiguous, you really need a calibrated pressure guage to know base, then max boost pressures).

however, you have, at least, got a good turbo/wastegate, so keep going!

that 'pull' you get at the 3/4 red mark is worth getting at least close to-i had alot of fun yesterday, but i tried to only have that fun in 4th and 5th. i was on the I5 in seattle at the rush hour, and was 'forced' to wind her up a few times in 2nd and 3rd-oh, baby!!!hold on tight, here we go!
i wish all the 900t owners out there the same pleasures i have been getting the last few days... good luck!
