Doesn't work? I do it all the time. Posted by CMyles [Email] (#1126) [Profile/Gallery] (more from CMyles) on Mon, 7 Jan 2008 13:46:35 In Reply to: Re: Or jack up a wheel - doesn't work, Carl, Mon, 7 Jan 2008 13:04:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Carl,
Only jack up one front wheel, leave the other on the ground. Rolling the raised wheel with the car in gear will then turn the engine. It is of course easier with the spark plugs out. With an open differential (like all stock C900s have) if you roll one differential side gear (the elevated wheel) while the other stands still (wheel on ground) the differential pinion gears must roll around the stationary side gear and that rolls the carrier and ring gear which then turns the pinion shaft. If the car is in gear then the transmission and (engaged) clutch will transmit the torque to the crankshaft so it turns. I (we) do it all the time on C900s. Cheers
