Is this car by any chance up in the seattle/pac NW area by any chance? looks like a car I might know.

As far as rust, the rust I see in those pics doesn't look too bad or terminal, in and of itself, but it warrants looking closely at other parts of the car that terminal rust might be.

A couple thoughts, strictly speaking on what you show in the photos:

1) Rusty rear axle is no problem unless it is exceptionally severe.. Most of them rust... Rear axles can be replaced.

2) In pic 008 - that really really rusty bit on the top left of the photo is actually not the frame of the car, its the rear bumper mounting bracket. That can be replaced. Not a problem. Even my 90 SPG with almost 0.0 rust has a slight rust on one side of that bracket and the other side bracket is surprisingly rusty. Not a huge deal also.

3) In that same pic 008, look where the body seams are joined on the LH side... the rust. That probably means its like that all over the car.

4) Pic 007, looks like a little rust is starting in the trunk floorpan area. You'll probably see it from the inside to the right of the spare tire when looking in the trunk area.

So... bottom line, what is shown in these pics is not terminal rust IMO, but it does point to the fact that the car's definitely started rusting in quite a few places, and there are thus probably other places that might be / be close to terminal rust. Places to look:

- inside front doors, open the door, look on car frame at the bottom, front and rear
- passenger and driver side lower a-arm mounting areas
- rear shock top mounting areas
- front bumper mounting brackets -- not totally terminal by the way
.. and there are many others ... good luck.

You have more pics? happy to look and give opinions...
