check you three way vacuum plug Posted by vvack0matic [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Should have let it warm up this morning...., Jonathan Scupin ![]() ![]() |
that plunged into the side of the intake-manifold
if the three way plastic plug cracked, became loose, or all together backed out of the manifold will give the effects you described.
only thing that has me wondering is the car became drivable all by itself. make sure the rubber grommet for this plug is still 100%.
when the motor was cold the rubber grommet may have shrunk, & became hard allowing a small hole to form between grommet to intake-manifold, or grommet to three way plug allowing outside air to get into the motor causing it to lean out (as in boosting)
getting the motor warm or driving in above freezing the rubber grommet will stay soft keeping a good seal.
but in this case turning the ignition off is the best thing one can do
being the driver will loose all control of the motor, just to bad it had to hit the rev limiter before the ignition was killed.
(just a note:)
i have pointed to the three way vac hook up on the side of the intake, being this had happened to me in this area, however the plastic a.i.c. plug and its grommet can produce the same symptoms if a gap is provided,
do a thorough check of the intake vac. lines, grommets, plastic plug-ins
