Years ago I got tired of the dash lights failing with the fragile circuit paper backing.
I hard wired the two main dash lights to the headlight switch lighting. I took a very small drill bit and drilled a hole in Positive and negative metal connections of the lightbulb sockets and fed part of the wire thru the hole so when I soldered the wires to the socket, they stayed put (believe me, they didn't until I did this)
I cut the papercircuit board off and sealed it with electrical tape. I took wire splicers to the headlight switch and ran the positive and negative to the bulb sockets in line. It took a few brands of LED's before I found one I liked. I use green, it bright and easy to see. White worked OK, I just preferred the green.
The dimming function works. And I've not had a problem in a very long time.
Shoot me your email, and I will try to get picks of it tomorrow and send to you.
I wish this board would update and make it easier to post up pics.
