Thinking I might squeeze out a few more horses, I looked into a set of platinum or uranium plugs before, spent lots of time trying to sort out which one and what to gap them at. Many of the exotic metals plugs say NOT to regap them and that they operate correctly at their factory gap, not vehicle manufacturers gap specs. I got so frustrated with figuring things out, I went back to my origninal NGK's, which I never had a problem with. On my heavily modified '93 900T, I use NGK BCP 7ES gapped at .024. As an alterntive plug, if 7's not available I use NGK BCP 6ES also gapped at .024. Both I purchase from NAPA auto parts. I gap mine at .024 because of my increased horsepower and modifications. Infact when I've tried gapping to .028, I get bad performance and predetonation! So I'd recommned you stick with either of above mentioned plugs and gap from .028-.024 depending on performance mods to your vehicle. I'll pull plugs and regap them every oil change. And by the way, the difference between .024 and .028 doesn't seem large but it does make a whole world of difference when jumping spark.
