matter of time, i guess. 88spg boosting well, had a whine in 1,2,3&R, always took it easy in those gears. except yesterday, when i was coming onto the I5 in seattle, and decided to hit the power and go for it. well, i was in 3rd when i started, as i crossed the rumble strip it lost all 'drive', and i feared the worst. coasted to hard shoulder, trans is toast, it looked like i might still have 2nd for a few minutes, but on rowing through the box establishing what i had, it got stuck in '3rd', or what was left of it! towed home with foot on clutch, as even the supposed neutral was semi-engaging something.
ah, well, at least i had a couple of days to enjoy the car with a set of 4 tyres and all 4 ball joints replaced!
have the trans from my 92t at home, so once i get it home, i'll be getting to that soon enough....
all part of the fun...
