Might need a new chipset Posted by Ken [Email] (#2113) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ken) on Sun, 2 Mar 2008 15:17:18 In Reply to: Newbie: Alarm Fob Questions, Cary, Sun, 2 Mar 2008 08:07:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
These are alpine alarms. The fobs and receiver (under the back seat) all need to have a matching chip number in order to communicate. Open the two fobs and compare the number on the removable chip. It they're the same, and the red light on the dead remote doesn't light up when yp push the button, a battery should do the trick.
If the numbers are different, you need to shop the usual suspects and hope they have replacement chipsets. They come in sets of 4. Once all chips match, you're set to go.
