This programming cannot be done with the old 900 remotes.
I share your excitement since I also own a '92 S convertible- what color is yours?
My SC came with three different keys for four different lock cylinders. The glovebox lock is universal, so check the odd key in all the other ones.
Open up the remote and check the code on the chip. It should be stuck on with a sticker-like label. Next, check the other fob or the chip in the control unit beneath the rear seat. If those codes are different, you'll need to get a chip set from either Saab (probably not available anymore, %$#!%$#) or from someone with access to Alpine replacement parts.
