WD 40 won't cut it - if its the window mechanism (likely) try brake cleaner or good degreasing solvent to eliminate all the old gunk -
removing the window and the motor is better but takes work - regrease with a light solvent nothing that really heavy (I use rustcheck oil). you can also oil the motors themselves but this may entail their removal from their plastic "bags" and may not be worth it.
