If the transmission was already making noise than it was on its way out anyway. When you replace the transmission, use only 10-30w oil in it. Anything of a heavier weight is too much hydrostatic pressure for these units. Additives just don't work either. On my 87/9000 turbo trans. I change the oil with a suction pump and then added 10-30w oil with twenty percent% of it being "Lucas" brand gear lube additive. Two hundred miles later the transmission failed and to two front tires locked-up. I was going around forty mile an hour so the trans. didn't blow apart and can still be rebuilt. Reuse the clutch and pressure plate from the old one. If oil is on the clutch disc, just clean the oil off with "Breakleen" product. When changing the transmission, it's a good time to do all the engine seals. You'll be back on the road again soon enough, Happy Saabing!
