There's a LOT more to 900 convertibles than removing the top.
The initial prototype was built in California, but then again there were others from both of Saab's plants, one in Sweden and the other (Valmet) in Finland. Valmet's design was ultimately used. It was based on the two-door 900 of 1985-1986 (US) also known as the Saab 90 of 1984-1990 in other markets. Don't confuse this with the three-door 900 as they are very different from the firewall back.

Aside from the significantly different windshield, the C900 convertible had additional chassis bracing in the lower door sills, beneath the rear seat, and extending downward and forward from the base of the windshield. The front windows, though similar to a 900 hatchback, are different and incompatible. As you can guess, the rear windows are also different parts.

Back to this wind deflector thing, I think they look stupid and have no function except when you're violating speed limits. The existing draft in my convertible nicely reorganizes anything in the rear footwells by blowing it forward, but that's half the fun. I love having to check that everything is secured before dropping the top. The only place with an adverse draft in a 900 cabrio is the rear seat, and you can't use the rear seat with one of those things in place. IMHO, a waste of money. Yuppie-spotting material, like the ones who drive around with the top down and the windows up. What's the deal with that?!? Well I drive a convertible but I don't want it to be drafty. No thanks.
There, I'm now officially a convertible purist.
