Worst case is the CV joint(s) seize/lockup and therefore lockup your right front wheel, ensuring general loss of control. Depends on when/where they lock up. If you're near Fort Apache in the Bronx, this might not be a good thing.
HOwever, it's not likely to happen. More likely worst case is a broken pile of CV joint parts leading to freewheel of the right front wheel...with on open diff you simple stop power to the wheels..you can still roll but can't drive. I'm not sure at what point the core is considered rebuildable if you're concerned about that. If the core is unrebuildable you might not get your core charge back.
If all you did was go straight ahead there would be little wear/stress on the CV joint (some because of up/down motion of axle)...but clearly if you hear clunking on turns there is excessive play/wear, probably a torn boot (which is generally the first sign of problems even before clunking.
