No use silicone on rubber under hood?

Everything I've read about silicone says it's a bad deal to use where it can get sucked into the intake and end up contaminating 02 sensors.
That being said, I've used silicone tire dressing on rubber components where I felt that a vacuum leak couldn't occur.
I wouldn't use spray silicone on induction tubing/sleeves/boots.
YMMV.
