The red LED sits in a spot in the speaker grille/defrost vent/dash access panel. It's different than the anti-theft LED on the OEM radio units. Usually the LED will get pushed out of the fitting and sit underneath it, still blinking away. Do you have an owner's manual? That'll tell you how to activate and deactivate valet mode with the switch under the seat. The potentiometer in the alarm CU adjusts its sensitivity for the glass breakage sensor microphone. There are plenty of writeups, most notably on Tom "Pete" Townsend's Saab page. My only quip with mine is that I cannot get the thing to shut up and not chirp when the alarm arms. I find this annoying.
