On my '89 I think a plastic tab broke off that holds brake light pedal switch into the bracket. Switch part worked fine. I daubed PC-7 I think it was, a JB-Weld type epoxy putty, all around things and once it set it held to bracket, bent bracket enuf to get reliable click on when pedal pushed, click off when let up.
On earlier 900s the switch was different, had a threaded shank and two nuts, threaded part cracks clean thru and switch falls apart. Need to buy a new switch if that's your problem.
You'll probably want to remove your knee bolster to get at the thing.

If you meant e-brake light, that's also a little switch, in console area. Then you'd need to pull seats.

No real advice on stuck key as I don't know this area totally and don't know exactly what you did, but I'll try. Was it stuck in the lock cylinder before you did the work? Shift into reverse, wiggle key some, try some solvent sprayed down in and wiggle some more and try to pull it out. Lock works can get awfully gummed up, with soda, coffee, crumbs, etc. Try pouring a little bit of rubbing alcohol down in it, work key around, in and out if you in fact can get it out, lots of times. Follow with a teaspoon or so of boiling water. Then use a piece of rubber hose to blow air thru the lockworks. Did this once and really cleaned my lockworks up nice. Some say WD-40, some say no, as lube afterwards.

You know, the key should only come out when you're in reverse? (Some cars are stripped of their owner manuals and some are so worn out in this area that the key comes out regardless of the gear you're in so maybe you hadn't been informed, is why I say this. Not knocking your Saab sense.)

I don't think you need to worry about lubing shifter ball but you could add a little grease, or just squirt a little motor oil or 3in1 down in there to freshen up the grease that's there.
