Should I worry about these leaks?

Today my 1993 Saab 900 automatic, 120k, got an oil change at Prompto. They told me they saw two leaks underneath: trans pan leaking, and axle seal leaking. My car has had a lot of little leaks for about two years. Finally this past fall, I had my Saab mechanic try to fix all the transmission leaks. He said they did everything they could (replaced and fixed some parts), but he said there is still a gasket that would cost $1200 to fix, so I said forget it. They said not to worry about the leak, and that Saabs are known to have leaks, not a big deal, more a nuisance than anything. This axle seal leak is something new (on the passenger side). I guess my question is, are these normal leaks and should I just ignore them? If I ignore them, what could potentially happen? I can't tell you how many times I have taken my car to my Saab mechanic to fix a leak, and I pay big money, and the leak is still there, or they say another one has sprouted. Otherwise, my car runs fine. However, I am really considering selling the car--the stress with all these leaks is taking a toll. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks!
