Look on the forum for fuel pump testing by jumping the pump relay, or jump the wires at the pump. Usually when hearing the loud buzzing, it's the main pump. What your describing is typical of main pump failure. Becarfull when replacing it as the 90 degree elbows are brittle and break easily. One thing that's really bad for electrical fuel pumps are letting them run dry of gasoline, since the liquid cools and lubricates the motor. If your car is also high mileage then that would also indicate the fuel pump is at the end of sevice. You can do a few things to repair. Oder the whole pump assembly, rebuild/replace just the pump or purchase a good used pump. When replacing into the tank, remember the locate the exact position and lubricate the rubber seal so that it doesn't bind when tightening the ring and give a false sense of tightness, as it will leak when driving. Leave trunk cover off until you test drive and are sure there are no leaks
