Mike,
Suggesting what your next step should be begs a few questions; Did you just get this car? When did the noise start? Did it come on gradually or all of a sudden? Was the car parked for a long time? Was any work done to it just before the noise started? Has the car been well maintained and had regular oil changes? How many miles are on it? Original engine and cylinder head? How much have you run it since the noise started and, apart from the noise, How does it run? Huge racket from under the cam cover generally suggests frozen lifters, a stretched out timing chain or really bad timing chain guides. Finding that the lifters are not "Squishy" while they are in place doesn't guaranty that they are not internally seized up. Fill in those blanks and you'll certainly get some streamlined advice. Cheers
