SCANTECH PRODUCTS BLOW!!!
OK, so I'm about 5 hours from having my vert back on the road at the tail end of the 5-speed conversion --engine and new tranny in and am done with electrical, vacuum, water, and hydraulic connections. I am using new or rebuilt everything for the clutch (line master slave, etc.).
SO, I start bleeding the clutch and things are going fine, pedal beings to get stiffm then suddenly pedal shoots to the floor. WTF. I check the level on the reservoir and begin and pump up the pressure w/ bike pump and look at the discharge tube, only to see massive air bubbles again - very confused. I add another 16 oz. of brake fluid, still the same, but no pedal pressure at all.
Then I look under the car and see a massive puddle of DOT 4. Close examination reveals that it is dripping out the bottom of my brand new SCANTECH slave cylinder. My parts guy is totally cool and realizes and is going to replace it with a brand new OEM at no additional charge tomorrow, but still, what a waste of time. Total PITA! Sets me back at least a day!
Beware the SCANTECH brand -- you have been warned!
