Doug, I have been driving these cars for over 20 years (99/900's) and the only thing that has ever stopped them is when they are totaled (3 totals, a drunk from behind, a church sideways, and a tree head on) and I was hurt in none of them. About a year and a half ago a guy pulled up at my home and asked if I wanted to buy a car (91 900t conv.) for 500, I went and looked at the car, it didn't run, top was trash, seats worthless, had standing water in the floor board, and hadn't been on the road for over 5 years. I offered 200 which he took and towed the car home the next day. Now I have replaced the top, new leather seat covers, carpet, head gasket, water pump, and various minor things and have a less than 4k investment in a car that I drive every day. Also I have taken a number of road trips from Jackson Mississippi to: Tyler Texas / Atlanta GA / Gulf Shores AL / Augusta GA / New Orleans / Mobile AL and the only problem was when the water pump was going bad, but adding watter every 300 miles still got me home.

But really what ever you drive, look out for drunks that sneak up from behind, moving churches and trees that jump out of nowhere in front of you.
