I have just endured many hours of frusruation.
Well, just spent the afternoon changing my water pump, which went fine.
Went for a test drive, car rode fine, coolant system healthy. Drive was like 3-4 miles, with a stop off at the supermarket.
Car sits in driveway for 45 minutes.
Go to get in car, notice it's stuttering on the way out the drive, by the time I make it down to the bottom of my hill the car will just not go, I pull to the side of the road.
Symptoms: If I try to start it, it will idle around 500 rpm, and the second you feather the throttle it dies. If you unplug the AMM, it will idle moderately steady at 1100 or so, and rev fine, but the second you apply load to the engine it dies. I was able to limp up my hill and into my driveway.
Backstory - changed out the FPR from a 3.0 bar to a 2.5 bar the other day, literally like 5 days ago. This seems suspect
I can't find any air leaks whatsoever.
I tried a spare AMM.
I jumped fuses 30 and 27, I can hear the fuel pump and I can hear fuel moving around by the FPR/fuel rail. My multimeter is out of batteries.
OK, so to me this feels like a fuel pressure issue. You know when you unplug the fuel pump fuse, and run it till it dies to relieve pressure, and it will sort of stutter around and die the second you give it gas? It feels like that, but doesn't die on its own. Then there's the fact that it will idle fine if you unplug the AMM, but not if you load the engine...
The FPR seems suspect, do you think a bad FPR could cause these symptoms?
