I always get a kick out of people who argue on-line...not in a good way either. So please don't construe this as being argumentative. I just wanted to respectfully and kindly say that hypermiling wasn't my intention, and your suggestions didn't fit what my original post was even about. When you said that you thought I might be serious about hypermiling, and then realized I probably wasn't...? Very correct. I was just interested in turning off my 5spd car when I was at speed, and going down a long hill.
My whole post is about coasting with the engine off. Hopefully we can agree that there is no possible way, in any manner or with any technology - to get better mileage than I get when I'm coasting along at 50MPH with the engine off.
Truth-be-told, I had never ever heard of hypermiling until this forum brought it up. Lots of great info available from those folks. Lots of really dangerous opportunities too.
Thanks for chiming in on the topic though.
