i'm really not sure exactly what you had done (don't understand the epoxy thing), but if he took the distributer off he may have put it back on a litte retarded, or the vac capsule, if it was removed, could have been installed without locating on the pin inside the distributer. call up the mechanic today, if you can, and ask him if he had to remove the distributer, and if he timed the engine back up afterwards. if no, ask him if he removed the vac capsule.
with a 13mm wrench you can loosen the distributer a little and rotate it clockwise while looking from the front (just a little at a time), and see if it improves things. mark the position of the distributer where it meets the head with a small scribe mark before you start.
