Thanks for all the advice. I'm leaning against it. I remember how much I put into my last convertible over the first year or two (which looking back wasn't too bad considering it was a great deal). I also had the car's maintenance history so I knew what might have a short life, and what was relatively recently fixed. (And, no potential transmission problems). But, I'm not sure I'm willing to pay the seller's apparently non-negotiable price when there could be more serious problems to deal with. I'll just have to save a bit, and then keep my eyes out for something else. (Which of course I see a few nice "something elses" on the classifieds here, but naturally they're all way too far away. Life in the midwest!).
I may take a look at a local '89 900 4-door, though I wasn't really looking for a sedan. But, I have to replace a car, so we'll see.
