I have had this problem as well but was never able to locate its cause until I returned from an overseas trip recently - battery was completely dead
when I started to charge the system the interior lights began to glow and got brighter as the battery got stronger
turns out that the interior lights were randomly grounding out at night even with doors closed
but it would only happen when i was not around - sneaky
tracing the wiring back I found the problem to be in the door jamb switch on the driver's side
I have found the interior light above the rear left door also to be troublesome since there are so many wires jammed in there
before concluding the battery is the problem try as musch as possible to check that there is no voltage leak - bentley and this board describe how to do this and make sure your interior lights aren't coming on radomly
