Zig, yeah, it was like somebody just flipped a switch, running good, then running bad. I was pretty sure it wasn't a hole in a piston, burnt valves, bad injectors, all things that would have come on gradually. And no backfiring or sputtering, just failure to rev up. And it wasn't a caught-on connecting rod bearing; I had plenty of oil, good oil pressure, never a problem there. Coolant level was fine, never overheats, neele always about a quarter way up the gauge.

Somebody was posting on here once about the ECU in 89s, said it was prone to failing. I don't know about the truth of that but mine seems to have done it.

Pickle juice, eh? I might try it, but NOT on the car.

You know, I feel like I really let you down on those 9000 parts. There was one two weeks ago in the junkyard, a '91, up on top of another car and front wheels off it, so the crank pulley was staring me right in the face, nice and clean. But I didn't have any big sockets or long ratchet handle, and also, no time that day. And yesterday when I was there, he'd already CRUSHED the entire car. Maybe another time.
