I once stated this in a past post (long time ago) the "other" insurance company will most likely try to settle fast and cheap. Tell them to pi$$ off until you get a reasonable amount, usually between the NADA low and high values. Since it was not your fault (??), you are the victim. You can always demand more for your medical bills to supplement the loss of your car..... from my experience, joker 17yr old plowrd into the back of me, pushed me into an intersection, which I then collided with an oncoming car.
his insurance offered me a couple thousand to settle fast. Yeah right that hardly covered the ER visit! needless to say bout a month later we came to agree on a nice sum for myself as well as my friend(passenger).
Good luck, stand strong but be reasonable.
