Thanks to all of the posters on this board. After weeks of reading and reading I finally took the leap and bought a 1993 900S Convertible 5 speed, Lemans Blue, Blue Top and Grey interior. I bought it from the second owner and it has 134,000 miles on it. The pluses - almost no rust (two very small spots under the car starting at the drivers and passenger side footwells. No rust anywhere else. The car was garaged and not used in the winters up until 2 yrs ago when the PO's daughter started using it in the winters. All of the electronics work, CC, A/C, seats, windows, new exhaust front to back, new brakes, new tires, new clutch, master/slave. The car shifts with no grinding or gear pop, starts with no smoke, the top works great and the trunk is dry. I brought the car for a POSTpurchase inspection to Mike Connolly at Conntech in Warwick, RI. GREAT GUY! He and Sherry have a great shop and have assembled a top notch group of SAAB techs, The PostPI showed a slight leak in the steering rack, and Mike told me he could sand down the rusted areas and seal them before the winter season. Mike told me whoever owned the car before me spent alot of money at a non-Saab garage. Mike was surprised at the number of new parts (some installed incorrectly) The good news was it appeared to them to be a good solid car and I was happy to hear their report. The car will be a year round commuter car for my 64 mile commute to work. The car came with a set of saab steel wheels. The PO bought them when he bought the car in 1996 from 128 Saab in Wakefield, MA. He was going to buy winter tires but decided not to use the car in the winter. My plan is to buy the best winter tires I can and really find out if Saab built the "all season convertible" like their old ad campaigns used to state. The top is original and starting to get threadbare in spots. I wanted to "buy" some time with the original top so yesterday I bought some clear "shoe goo" and went to town on all of the spots that looked a little weak. It looks a little ugly but hopefully it will keep the top useful thru the winter and next spring she will be treated to a new oem top. Maybe black instead of blue?

Thanks again and sorry for the long winded post!
