Replacing motor mounts: Solid or Hydraulic? Easy?

G'Morning,
Noticed that our top motor mount rubber is shot. My first clue was the thunking, confirmed by executing the 'Mason-Dostie Manoeuvre'.
The literature said that the lower front (below the belts) mount breaks first, leading to the failure of other mounts. Have not confirmed this, as I'm now back in Calgary. So, I'll most likely have that one replaced as well, or replace it myself if I don't have to disassemble half the car to do it. Easy? Or hard :( ?
Have noticed that both hydraulic and solid lower motor mounts are available. What's the current wisdom on using one or the other?
Thanks!
Cheers,
Rob
