(and I believe it is for a '79), then you probably can't replace the timing chain or tensioner or guide with the engine in the car.

The plate covering the chain has to come off for access to the chain.

I did a couple of these in my 99-driving days, usually the chain was a little too stretched for the tensioner to compensate for the slack. This was on high-mileage 99s.

I've never done one on a 16V engine, still not used to the idea that the newer engine uses a single chain along with a tensioner that you can fool with OUTSIDE the crankcase.

On the B-engines, if you don't pay attention when doing a head job and transferring the cam sprocket to the built-in bracket, you lose tension on the chains and the tensionor kicks/ratchets out. And then the head job becomes an engine pull.
