Clutch Master Rebuild – Orientation of piston seals Posted by dave24 [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
After reading all of the helpful posts by RayF, oldsaab, and numerous others, I tore into the original clutch master from my 87 900T project car. Since I am already replacing the slave and line from master to slave, the master rebuild is a precaution.
Taking note of the orientation of the various parts, I removed and replaced them one by one. When I removed the last seal on the pedal side of the piston, I lost concentration and now am uncertain about the orientation of this seal.
The rubber seals are flared – and I think that both should be flared away from the pedal side. Can someone confirm that I have the orientation correct? Here is cryptic drawing of the way I think it should be (left camera at vacation house in Maine).
Outlet to clutch end =>=======> pedal end
Where the > represents the flared seal and the = the piston.
Thanks,
Dave
