Sounds like the one with 75,000 may have more miles than that, though maybe not. I'd take a well maintaned, high mileage, rust-free car with records over a lower mileage (even significantly lower) car any day. If the 220K car came from a cold climate it was probably garaged.
Rust can be a real hassle for a number of reasons, not the least of which is compromising the structural rigidity of the car. I had a 79 Rabbit that literally ground to a halt on the highway because the rear axle slowly separated from the body because of rust. But rust also makes a car difficult to work on and, therefore, more expensive to fix. Bolts and nuts can become fused with the parts they're designed to hold together so sometimes you have to replace good pieces that are attached to bad ones. And busted bolts are common in rusty cars. Besides, rust is unsightly and very expensive to repair on body panels.
I gotta 9000S with over 200k and it has all the service records. My C900 T came with nothing. The 9000 got a new clutch and slave cylinder at 108K, wheel bearings at 150k, blah, blah, blah. With my Turbo it's a total guessing game (although it gives me the excuse of having to replace just about everything, just in case :-)
Just my 0.2 cents
