yes and no. depends upon your definition of enclosure. as long as the space in front of the speaker cone is divided from the rear, it works fine. so you can hang speakers on the sides of the rear shelf (as Saab does on the three door) and they work very well. You can add speakers to that same shelf and that works well too. an enclosure does not have to be, and in most cars is not, a box like a free standing home stereo or a speaker for a patio setting.
