oil cooled Garrett turbo w/crack under turbine impeller

Hi, I'm getting ready to install a used turbo from an 87' 900t in an 87' SPG. The donor car was a wreck & no other info is available other than what I can determine from my inspection after getting the unit cleaned up. There is some play in the shaft, but not so much that I wouldn't gamble on installing it. However, there is a very small 3/8" long crack in the cast iron housing, at the edge of the bore the turbine impeller resides in. There is some coking/carbon around surrounding the crack as well.
I called Erikson & was told from my description, that were they to recieve this unit as a core, they'd simply resurface the bore & not worry about it. The fellow I spoke with (very nice btw) said the crack will not likely expand much for a long long time. Apparantly, these pre 88' non water cooled turbos are getting pretty scarce!

BTW, Erikson gets $395 for a rebuilt unit, which is $100 less than 'the saab site'.
