SuzAnne,
Your 1992 convertible is what we call the "Classic 900" and that car was built through 1994 as a convertible although 1993 was the last year for it as a hardtop (which is not important to you but a detail that causes some confusion). So the classic 900 was discontinued in 1993 but classic 900 convertibles continued in production through 1994. The classic 900 was replaced by the "New Generation 900" which has an entirely different body, chassis and convertible top. Therefore the top from a 1994 car should work just fine on your 1992 car. A 1995 convertible 900 is different.
The stereos are easily pulled out using a small special tool (that you can get at auto parts stores) and then you can compare the connectors at the back. If they have the same connector then they are a direct swap. Most of these stereos have a secret code that must be entered after installation or they won't work so try to get the code with the stereo or you'll have to go through a Saab dealer to get it. Look for the stereo manual in the donor car and you may see the code fixed to the cover. Sometimes people write the 4 digit code on the side of their stereo too. Good luck
