I guess the stupidity in California smog tests can be exceeded!

We get either a "Test Only" or a "Full Service" notice sent to you depending upon where you live (how bad the air is), the age of your vehicle, and how you did last time.

So if you get a Test Only and go there, pay, and pass you are done.
However if you Fail, you have to then go to a Full Service, they have to fix the issue, then they test, and THEN you go back to a Test Only to test again. Of course you pay pay pay. If you get Full Service notice you do it all right there, they do charge more for the smog test but you only have to pay for it once... Can't you just go to the Full Service and cut out the other steps you ask, nay nay! That would lend itself to possible cheating, which is why they have this plan in place...

The last time I went through this I passed at the Full Service *without any changes* just hook up and read. I was not going back to the TEST ONLY I had just left, asked where the recommended, when there AND THE GUY DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO TIME IT. I do admit that a 900T is a bit complicated... So I showed the guy where to check the timing, he hook up the smog test gear, and imagine my surprise when it passed.

But these guys aren't in any unions, are the NJ guys?
