Mac, try adding toluene instead of acetone. It will up your octane rating more. As a matter of fact, make a 1 gal home-brew octane booster and add that to your tank. 100 oz. of toulene for octane boost (about $2.50/gal), 25 oz. of mineral spirits (cleaning agent), 3 oz. of transmission fluid (lubricating agent). If you mix it 1:9 it will increase your octane rating 23 points (89 octane will become 91.3 octane). You can mix it to ratios as high as 30%. As the price of petrol rises, home-brew octane boosters seem like a better idea. BTW, don't buy that crap they sell in the auto parts stores as octane boost. It has so little toluene in it it only raises your octane about 3 pts. (89 octane becomes 89.3). Xylene will also work. It's a little more expensive and will raise your octane a little more than Toluene.
