Discovered recently that a portion of my underbody is significantly corroded; so far I've only found one guy willing to work on it, and he's booked for another month. There are 2 areas of corrosion, one seems less problematic as it looks to be the area where the spare tire is stored, the main area would be right above the rear lifting point on the right side. This is a squarish structure, since it's designed for the jack support leads me to believe it's structural (frame rail?). Any thoughts on the structure in this area and the ability to reinforce it?
Also, if I had to source some underbody parts from another car, would I be able to utilize parts from a 99 (in an '87 900) such as the trunk floorpan area and/or the passenger side footwell area? I seem to recall reading that these cars are very similar, and a specific example given of the doors being directly interchangeable.
