My 89 grey 900 is clear coat free over 80% of car.I had interior done and when sun roof was out gunned the sun roof with BC CC as a start to doing rest of car. with in 3 months a tree limb fell and dented sun roof only. Then rust started showing on fender area's and a few encounters with crazy females beating up doors and trunks etc made me happy i never got to do rest of car. I have a 90 900 sedan that is blue that is acylic on hood, trunk, roof and complete pass side, but drivere door and LR door are base coat clear coat and look bad, even though it seems apparent to me those two doors were repaired for some reason. For my money any cosmetic work I am going to do will be in acylic. I like the fact it can be rubbed out when oxidized. I have shot both type paints and consider BC CC to be easier to gun, but acylic seems tougher and more durable. As far as why, I'm no chemist but suspect too much drying time between base coat application and clear coat application, resulting in poor adhesion between layers.
