That's what "EV" plugs look like normally. A fine wire Gold-Palladium electrode. They're fine. Just check the gap, and check the ground side for wear. I think they're nearly indestructible...
A long time ago, someone gave me a set of Bosch Platinum +4 plugs, insisting that they were the best thing since sliced bread for my 1986 900t. I put them in, and in the midst of the hottest summer in NJ, they would suddenly not spark the car, if the motor got hot, like sitting at a toll booth... At 8:30 AM... I changed EVERYTHING besides those plugs. Cap, Rotor, wires, COILS! Nothing worked. Finally, I got so peeved one morning, I swapped in a set of pulled NGK BCP6EV plugs. THey'd already done over 30k. Swapped in the used plugs, and never had a problem again. I have no idea how many miles I put on those things. Must have been at least 50k MORE than the 30k they already had. THey never gave me reason to change them, until I installed DI on that motor, and had to switch to the resistor plugs with the plain electrode (BCPR6ES).
My first 99, with points and condenser ignition used the original Bosch Platinum plugs. THey worked k. But today, it's NGK all the way in my Saabs...
