These spin in the opposite direction as normal bits, counter-clockwise. Since they spin in the same direction as you want to extract the stud the vibration and bite of the cutting edge will often back the broken stud out; that is what happened in my case. You may also want to rent a right angle drill, to give you a better angle on lining up the drill. Use a 1/8 inch bit, see if it comes out while drilling, and then try an extraction tool.
You can order the reverse drill bits off the web, or buy them from WW Grainger. I am pretty sure Graingers has a store in Denver. you can get the product number at grainger.com, as well as locating the nearest store.
